Summary of Position

BD Interventional’s Surgery worldwide business unit, located in Rhode Island, is a leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of innovative, life-enhancing medical technologies.

Scope and Impact

The person responsible for this position has significant impact on the success of Surgery’s overall sales plan, maximum customer satisfaction, and financial profitability.

  • Direct the development and execution of production plans to support global sales in excess of $600mm, manage FG inventory assets in excess of $75mm, while meeting defined service level objectives.
  • Drive Sales Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal & company compliance with all Federal, State, local, and company regulations, policies, & procedures for Health, Safety, & Environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all company guidelines and policies.
  • Employee Hire and Termination Authority - Employee hiring requires second level approval. Employee terminations require Human Resources concurrence and sign-off.
Responsibilities
  • The Associate Director, Demand & Supply Chain Planning directs all Supply Chain activities of assigned product portfolio to optimize inventory, minimize cost, and set and achieve customer service goals.
  • This includes demand planning, supply planning, new product launch, inventory management, consignment management, returned goods, distribution, lifecycle management, execution oversight, and monitoring and reporting of results to management. Lead and facilitate SIOP process for a given business segment in order to align market and financial requirements with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Lead the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) Process for assigned portfolio.
  • Design and implement cost effective and differentiated supply chain solutions to help the Global platforms to strengthen the core and capitalize distinct opportunities for expansion into adjacencies.
  • Lead Global Forecast Accuracy, Global Backorder, Global Line Fill and Global Inventory performance for the global platform.
  • Maintain long-range (3 year) Global demand and Global capacity roadmaps for key platform product families.
  • Sponsor Supply Chain Process Improvement Continuous improvement (CI) programs.
  • Track and report performance metrics on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Leverage Lean Concepts and Six Sigma tools to develop and effectively implement advanced Supply Chain solutions, processes, and systems improvements.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, Operations, New Product Development, and Finance to develop and implement feasible and successful new product launches.
  • Account for oversight of manufacturing, inventory management, and distribution operations to ensure customer service goals are attained with minimal product expiry and obsolescence.
  • Leverage Advance Planning and ERP technologies to provide full WIP and product visibility through the supply chain.
