City Personnel is partnering with a fast-growing, multi-entity construction organization to identify an experienced Project Accounting Manager
. This is a senior-level leadership opportunity for an accounting professional with strong GAAP expertise and a deep understanding of project-based financial operations.
The ideal candidate brings hands‑on construction accounting experience, including WIP schedules, job costing, progress billing, draws, retainage, and percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition. This role offers the opportunity to combine strategic financial oversight with direct operational involvement in a complex, high‑growth environment.
Company & Position HighlightsExecutive‑Level Impact: Oversee accounting operations across 65+ active legal entities
Compensation: $115,000–$130,000 annually, based on experience
Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of 2–4 accounting professionals
Industry Focus: Direct exposure to construction and renewable energy project accounting
Strategic Partnership: Work closely with executive leadership, legal counsel, and operational teams

Employment Type: Permanent, full‑time leadership role
Key Responsibilities of the Project Accounting Manager:- Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accurate GAAP‑compliant reporting
- Oversee general ledger activity, accruals, and detailed project cost tracking
- Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations, and consolidated reporting across multiple entities
- Direct all aspects of project accounting, including setup, budgeting, revenue recognition, margin analysis, and cost controls
- Review and approve construction draws, lien waivers, and retainage schedules
- Supervise Accounts Payable, vendor oversight, and cash flow forecasting
- Support treasury functions, including banking relationships and intercompany funding
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to support scalability
- Oversee sales and use tax compliance and assist with audit coordination
- Mentor and develop accounting staff while driving accountability and performance
- Identify system enhancements and process improvements to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or Master’s degree strongly preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility
- Strong GAAP foundation, including multi‑entity consolidations and financial reporting
- Construction accounting expertise required, including WIP schedules, job costing, draws, retainage, and percentage‑of‑completion accounting
- Proficiency in construction ERP systems such as Spectrum and Quick Books
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills with experience partnering across departments and executive leadership
