Job SummaryThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Urgent Care Center provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider in a fast-paced urgent care setting. The LPN is responsible for clinical tasks such as patient assessments, administering medications, assisting with procedures, and documenting care in accordance with nursing standards and regulatory requirements. This role supports timely, compassionate, and efficient care delivery to individuals across the lifespan, with a focus on quality outcomes, patient safety, and service excellence.
EssentialFunctions
- Obtains and documents vital signs, chief complaints, and patient history in preparation for provider examination.
- Administers prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments in accordance with established protocols and state regulations.
- Performs point-of-care testing and specimen collection, ensuring proper labeling and handling.
- Assists providers with exams, procedures, and wound care, maintaining sterile technique and infection control standards.
- Monitors patient status and reports changes in condition or response to treatment to the provider or RN.
- Documents all care provided in the electronic medical record (EMR) promptly and accurately.
- Supports care coordination by scheduling follow-up appointments, providing discharge instructions, and reinforcing patient education.
- Maintains clinical equipment, supplies, and exam rooms in clean, stocked, and operational condition.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies, safety protocols, and urgent care clinical guidelines.
- Participates in team huddles, quality improvement activities, and patient flow initiatives to support an efficient and positive care experience.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in urgent care, emergency, or ambulatory care settings preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of LPN scope of practice and clinical protocols in urgent/emergency care.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records and basic computer systems.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, service excellence, and continuous learning.
- LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
