HGV Technician

Pay: £19.75 – £21.95 per hour
OTE:
Up to £58,000+ per year (with breakdown call-outs)

Hours:

Rotating Shifts (Earlies: 7am–3:30pm / Lates: 9am–8pm inc Call Out)

Contract:

Permanent, Full-Time

Earning Potential
Basic Salary: £41,000 – £48,000 per year (without overtime)
Additional Breakdown Earnings: £8,000 – £12,000+ per year
1 in 2 weeks rota: £20 per call-out + min. 2 hours at hourly rate (within hours) | Outside hours: 2 hours at 1.5x rate

Overview
We’re looking for a skilled HGV Technician to join a professional workshop on a rotating early/late shift pattern. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive HGV Technician to significantly boost earnings through a structured breakdown rota, while working in a supportive, customer-focused environment with clear progression.

Key Responsibilities

As an HGV Technician, you will carry out maintenance and repairs on heavy goods vehicles to manufacturer standards and book times.

Complete accurate service and repair documentation, ensuring quality and compliance across all work as a professional HGV Technician.

Support a team-focused and customer-oriented workshop environment.

Participate in the breakdown rota, providing timely roadside assistance and repairs.

What You’ll Need

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent strong experience).

Proven experience as an HGV Technician, ideally within a franchised main dealer environment.

Ability to work to manufacturer repair times and procedures.

Recognised inspection qualification (e.g., IRTEC HGV/PSV) is desirable.

Numerate, literate, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
