HGV Technician

Berry Recruitment are currently looking for a level 2-3 HGV technician for our client based in Preston Brook.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 07:30 - 15:30
Salary: 13-15 per hour, depending upon experience
Contract length: Initially 3 months, potential to extend
Location: Depot based in Preston Brook but could be working across 11 depots in the Northwest

Duties:

• Maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles.
• Carrying out PMI inspections.
• Repairs to gritting fleet.
• Performing routine servicing, diagnosing faults, ensuring compliance with DVSA standards.
• Participating in incident response where required.
• Travelling to other depots within the region to carry out mobile duties.
• Diagnose vehicle and equipment malfunctions, resolving complex issues.
• Take responsibility for personal and team safety, attend briefings, complete work records, and manage resources.
• Liaise with other staff, subcontractors and emergency services.

• Full current UK driving licence and ability to travel to depots across the region.
• HGV Technician level 2-3 qualified.
• Experience working on winter gritting vehicles.
• Mechanical aptitude for complex vehicle systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-responsibility setting.
• Strong understanding of health & safety legislation.
