Sales Consultant – Heat Pumps / Low Carbon Heating

As the UK accelerates its transition away from fossil fuels, we are investing heavily in heat pump technology and the commercial capability needed to support installers, merchants and customers nationwide.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced, industry proven Sales Consultant with a strong technical background and an established ability to attract, develop and retain customers within heating, plumbing, HVAC or renewable sectors. Proven Sales experience.

Role Overview

This is a consultative sales role, suited to someone with hands-on industry knowledge who can credibly engage with professional customers. You will demonstrate industry knowledge who can credibly engage with customers.

You will be responsible for developing new and existing customer relationships, identifying commercial opportunities, and providing technically sound advice on air source (and where applicable ground source) heat pump solutions.

Rather than purely transactional sales, this role focuses on long-term customer development, repeat business and becoming a trusted technical partner to installers and merchants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify, attract and develop new customers for heat pump solutions, including installers, energy companies and merchant partners.
  • Manage and grow an existing customer base, building strong, long-term commercial relationships.
  • Provide expert, technically credible consultation on air source heat pumps and associated products.
  • Understand customer applications, system requirements and commercial drivers to propose appropriate solutions.
  • Prepare and present accurate quotations and tailored proposals, including support for multiunit or bulk orders.
  • Lead the full sales lifecycle from initial enquiry through to order placement and aftersales support.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of government incentives, regulations and industry standards (e.g. Boiler Upgrade Scheme).
  • Work closely with technical, operations and supply chain teams to ensure smooth delivery and high customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting using CRM systems.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed agreed sales and margin targets.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in the heating, plumbing, HVAC, air conditioning or renewable energy industry.
  • Demonstrable track record of winning, developing and retaining customers in a commercial sales environment.
  • Strong technical or product understanding of heating systems (heat pumps highly desirable).
  • Ability to hold credible, technical conversations with installers, merchants and professional customers.
  • Commercially astute, with a consultative and solution led sales approach.
  • Confident communicator, able to translate technical detail into clear customer value.
  • Self-motivated and organised and comfortable managing a pipeline and sales targets.
  • Direct experience selling air source heat pumps or low carbon heating technologies. Carbon heating technologies.
  • Background in plumbing, heating engineering, air conditioning or building services.
  • Experience working with distributors, merchants or manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and structured sales processes.
