Working arrangements: Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 remote. During probation: 4 days in office.
Key Responsibilities- Feature Development & Maintenance: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable web applications using React, Type Script, and Node.js.
- Architect and optimise serverless back-end services on AWS (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, Event Bridge, Glue, Cloud Formation, CDK).
- Take ownership of full feature delivery, from requirements gathering through to production release and ongoing support.
- Ensure application resilience, security, and performance in live production environments.
- Drive high standards in code quality and documentation, contributing to technical architecture and API specifications.
- Lead code reviews, define best practices, and enforce compliance with security standards.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability frameworks to ensure rapid and reliable deployments.
- Identify and address technical debt, proposing solutions for long-term scalability.
- Work closely with the Head of Engineering to plan sprints, define technical roadmaps, and ensure timely delivery.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the engineering estate is well-documented and reviewed regularly.
- Champion adoption of new technologies, frameworks, and patterns where they add business value.
- 8+ years of professional experience in full-stack development with React, Type Script, Node.js, and AWS.
- Strong expertise in serverless architectures, AWS services, and event-driven design.
- Proven track record of delivering, scaling, and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Deep knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and observability (Cloud Watch, X-Ray, Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana).
- Excellent documentation practices for code, APIs, and architecture.
- Expert knowledge of security best practices for cloud-native and serverless applications.
- Experience leading technical design reviews or architecture boards.
- Knowledge of cost-optimisation strategies and Fin Ops practices in AWS environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £55,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
