Mental Health Practitioner Salary: £38,907, depending on experience. Permanent:
Full Time / 40 Hours.
Location:
North West Region (Manchester, Lancashire, Warrington areas). Cambian Group, the UK’s largest provider of specialist services in children’s residential care, education, mental health rehabilitation and learning disabilities, is looking for a dedicated individual to join the company as a Mental Health Practitioner. The post will require someone with previous experience of working in residentials and CAMHS settings, specifically within Looked After Children’s services and being familiar with the consultation model as service delivery.
We are seeking a Mental Health Practitioner to embed a trauma‑informed approach, working across our complex care community residential services, with young people displaying social, emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties. Bring excellent assessment skills and strong therapeutic consultation experiences gained in a residential setting or working with Looked After Children. This is a rewarding role with a difference.
Working full time, you will spend most of your time out in the field providing therapeutic services to young people placed within community residential settings. You will provide specialist assessments of children and young people’s needs, including formulating and implementing plans of therapeutic intervention and managing their presentations to embed trauma‑informed approaches and psychological understanding within current evidence‑based practice. The role ensures timely support in both the school and home setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing and identifying the needs of young people and staff through consultation, training and reflective practice.
- Providing specialist assessments and developing therapeutic plans.
- Applying trauma‑informed approaches and psychological understanding.
- Managing risk and ensuring safety of vulnerable young people.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Meeting with young people, staff and multidisciplinary team members.
Registered with the relevant professional organisation (HCPC, NMC, BACP) and holding a higher‑level qualification in a relevant subject such as counselling, therapeutic support, psychotherapy, social work or nursing. Experience of working with vulnerable young people in a therapeutic or counselling setting. Excellent communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
