Murphy is recruiting for a Principal Engineer to work within our applied engineering division from our Warrington office.

Murphy are currently recruiting for a Principal Design Engineer to join our award-winning team. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Principal Design Engineer will provide safe, practical, and economic designs for internal clients to a high standard of professional competence and in compliance with Company procedures.

Murphy Applied Engineering provides specialist engineering support in the following disciplines:
Mechanical, Geotechnical, Process, Surveying and both Permanent and Temporary works within Civil and Structural infrastructure.

A day in the life of a Murphy Principal Engineer:

• Responsibleforthedaytodaymanagementanddevelopmentofateamofengineers
• Responsibleforthedeliveryofalltechnicaldrawingsandreportsforthedetaileddesignphaseoflinearinfrastructureprojects(steeltransmissionpipelines&plasticductsfor
  
  HVcables)
• Responsiblefordeliveryofconstructabilityreportsassociatedwithlinearinfrastructureprojects
• Responsiblefordelivery Pre-FEEDandFEEDstudiesassociatedwithmajorpipeline/HVpowercableinfrastructureprojectsinthe
  
  UK,
• TechnicalsupporttoplannersandestimatorsduringFEEDstudies
• Checkingandapprovingoftechnicaldesignreports
• Projectreportingandcoordinationofdesignactivitieswithintheengineeringteam
• Representthedesigndepartment,when necessary,atinternalandexternalmeetings
• Undertakesitevisitswhenrequired,
• Accuraterecordingoftimespentonprojectsandmanagementofteamworkloads,
• Coachandmentorindividualstaffmemberswithprofessionaldevelopment,
• Supportthebidteamswithtechnicalinputintotendersubmissions&developdesignestimatesforinclusionintheoverallsubmission
• Technicalinputinto Trenchless Crossing Designs (HDD’s,Microtunnels&Auger Bores)

• Familiar with National Gasstandardsfortransmissionpipelinesaswellasother UK,EUandInternationalstandards(E.g.PD8010,BSEN
  14161,BSEN
  1594etc)
• FamiliarwithUKandinternationalstandardsforplasticpipes
• Construction&designexperienceassociatedwithlinearinfrastructureprojects&trenchlesscrossingdesigns
• Experience undertaking Pre-FEED,FEED&detaileddesignassociatedwithmajorlinearinfrastructureprojectsintheUKaspartofthegovernmentsnetzerotargetsfor
  2050.
• Experienceofconsentrequirementsassociatedwithrail(NWRFormA,B&C),road(CD622) andwatercoursecrossings(EA) is preferred
• Knowledgeandunderstandingofconstructionplant&equipmentusedtoinstallsteelpipelinesandplasticcableducts,
• FamiliarwithgeospatialanalysissoftwaresuchasArcGISorQGIS
• Excellenttechnicalreportwritingskills,
• Someawarenessandunderstandingofenvironmentalrestrictionsinthe
  
  UK.
