Role

We are looking for an experienced and influential Head of Quality to lead our organisation-wide Quality Strategy and strengthen our integrated Quality Management System. This role is key to our transition into a mature corporate operating model and will ensure consistent governance, assurance, and compliance across major projects, infrastructure delivery, and controlled environments.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will provide leadership across a matrix structure and act as the senior authority on quality for internal teams, clients, and regulators.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of our company-wide Quality Strategy, shaping how quality operates across the business.
  • Take ownership of the Quality Management System, ensuring processes are clear, controlled, and continuously improved.
  • A key part of your role will be helping the business shift from project-led quality practices to a unified corporate framework.
  • Ensure we meet ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 27001 and relevant regulatory requirements, keeping the organisation audit-ready.
  • Drive the roadmap toward nuclear‑grade capability, strengthening readiness for highly regulated environments.
  • Provide independent quality oversight, supporting stage‑gate reviews and bringing assurance into major project decisions.
  • Champion continuous improvement by using root‑cause analysis, CAPA, and performance insights to enhance delivery.
  • Support and develop the Quality team, building capability for high‑integrity environments.
Qualifications
  • Senior‑level quality leadership experience within engineering, infrastructure, energy, utilities, or nuclear sectors.
  • Experience working across matrix organisations and helping improve governance maturity.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear or high‑integrity frameworks – ideally including ISO 19443.
  • Solid understanding of ISO 27001 and integrated management systems.
  • A degree in Engineering, Quality or a related discipline, along with ISO 9001 Lead Auditor status.
  • Additional auditor qualifications or chartered status (CQI, CEng) would strengthen your profile.
  • Ability to influence effectively and support cultural and behavioural change across diverse teams.
  • A structured, analytical approach to problem‑solving and improvement.
Benefits

We offer a range of benefits designed to support your life in and out of work, including:

  • Being an employer of choice and a great place to work, attracting diverse and talented people.
  • Our ENABLE inclusion networks to foster belonging.
  • Participation in Top 100 UK companies supporting army veterans.
  • Values that shape our culture:
    Responsibility, openness, teamwork, ambition.
  • Industry‑recognised programmes, training and development for all career stages.
  • Exceptional time to be part of M Group.
