The OpportunityDue to continued growth and exciting new projects in the nuclear and regulated sectors, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s expanding team. - Deliver and manage technical studies and mechanical design projects from concept through commissioning.
- Produce and check key deliverables including DJRs / DARs, technical notes, substantiation reports, mechanical flow diagrams, P&IDs, and layout drawings.
- Apply BS 8888 and BS 2573 standards in design and calculations.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, LOLER, PUWER, Machinery Regulations, and ALARP principles.
- Author specifications, respond to TQs / PPs, and manage design substantiation and approvals.
- Maintain technical files and EHSRs in line with quality requirements.
- Lead risk assessments (RA / RRR) and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and effective communication with customers and stakeholders.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (IMechE / BEng) or equivalent.
- Previous leadership experience in engineering projects.
- Strong background in mechanical handling systems and nuclear environments.
- Experience with design substantiation, technical queries, and quality assurance.
- Familiarity with UK nuclear standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to hold SC clearance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex technical requirements.
- Proactive approach to problem‑solving and risk management.
The role will mainly be office based, with visits to site as required. A safety induction will be provided.
