A dedicated specialist school in Warrington is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a full-time, term-time role supporting pupils with a range of complex needs in a nurturing and structured setting.
The school provides tailored education for pupils with diverse SEN profiles, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication needs, and social and emotional challenges. Due to the school's location, access to your own transport is strongly recommended.
About this SEN Teaching Assistant roleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions for pupils with varied additional needs
- Support communication development, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Implement individual support strategies aligned with EHCP targets
- Use structured tools such as visual schedules and sensory techniques
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and therapeutic staff
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- A Psychology degree (particularly from a top-30 university) is highly desirable
- Experience working with children or young people with ASC or additional needs
- Strong understanding of inclusive practice
- Patient, resilient, and empathetic in approach
- Relevant training (e.g., safeguarding, autism awareness) is beneficial but not essential
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two professional references
