Higher Level Teaching Assistant – SEN Secondary School
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive SEN secondary school in the Warrington area. The school supports pupils aged 11–16 with a wide range of special educational needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), communication difficulties and sensory needs. This is a full‑time role so Monday – Friday availability is essential.
⭐ The RoleAs a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading small group interventions and supporting targeted learning programmes
- Delivering pre‑planned lessons in the teacher’s absence
- Supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 and group basis
- Assisting with behaviour regulation and emotional support
- Adapting resources and activities to meet diverse learning needs
- Working closely with the SENCO, teachers, therapists and external professionals
- Supporting pupils with communication, social skills and independence
- Contributing to EHCP targets and progress reviews
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
- HLTA qualification
- Experience working in an SEN school or supporting pupils with SEN
- Confidence delivering learning activities and supporting pupils aged 11–16
- Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs
- Positive behaviour management and de‑escalation skills
- Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with young people
- A calm, resilient and flexible approach
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Relevant references covering the last 2 years
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
