At M Group Water we help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. This role will join BGEN - one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food and beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Operations Student to join us for an Industrial Placement year within our Operations and Commercial teams in Penketh (Cheshire). This is a great opportunity for someone currently studying for a degree in Business, Economics or Finance and seeking hands on experience in industry.

What you'll be doing :

Our one-year industrial placement is incredibly flexible, offering you experience of many different aspects of a large national engineering business. You will be working closely with the Operations and Commercial teams, but you will also interact with many other stakeholders in the business such as engineers and project managers. You will develop a good understanding of business operations and how we deliver and manage our projects.

This role will be the perfect opportunity for a student hoping to get a varied and rich first experience in business operations, through being completely embedded into the team and processes.

You can expect to :

  • Gain a good appreciation of manufacturing operations through supporting teams in production and materials handling activities
  • Support the Operations Manager with process improvements, performance reports and develop analytical skills to interpret data and identify efficiency opportunities
  • Support teams across the business with implementation of changes and improvements, including identifying and tracking KPIs and measuring progress
  • Experience typical tasks performed by a Quantity Surveyor, including developing commercial data analysis and producing management reports
  • Manage administrative tasks directly related to large volume purchasing and stock control management processes
  • Support senior staff with management-related tasks
What you’ll bring

  • Great communication skills and a willingness to learn

  • A driving license and willingness to travel
