This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) located at the Proton Center in Warrenville. Schedule consists of 5, 8‑hour shifts. The candidate must be flexible with hours and oncology experience is preferred.
The Staff Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory and accreditation standards.
The role is a registered professional nurse accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for the care of assigned patients. As a member of the clinical team, the Registered Nurse participates in decision making and quality improvement activities that improve patient care outcomes.
Responsibilities- Direct patient care and develop individualized plans addressing changes in physiological condition.
- Communicate patient status to multidisciplinary team members.
- Communicate directly with patient and family regarding nursing care.
- Provide clinical interventions and coordinate care delivery to meet patient needs.
- Document the nursing process.
- Assimilate information from multiple sources and implement appropriate action plans to provide safe, quality care.
- Ensure safety and security of patients, significant others, and staff.
- Follow research protocols for assigned patients.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of anti‑neoplastic therapy: effects, side effects, risks and benefits.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of sterile technique principles.
- Attain knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice through ongoing educational activities.
- Collaborate with patient, family, and others in nursing practice; create a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions.
- Use quality improvement activities to initiate changes in nursing practice and healthcare delivery system.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
- Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois (IDFPR).
- CPR BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
- 1–2 years of oncology experience.
- Specialty nursing certification, if eligible.
- CERT ACLS, CERT PALS.
