Phone Triage Registered Nurse – Gastroenterology

Warrenville, IL
Employment type:
Full‑time, 40 hours/week (Monday‑Friday, 8:00‑4:30 pm)
Compensation:
Base pay range $27.00–$38.90 per hour. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives.

- Triage Phone Response:
Manage patient health concerns and symptoms via telephone interactions using physician‑approved protocols. Assess, educate, and provide crisis intervention as needed. Prioritize incoming messages and test results. Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures; obtain insurance pre‑authorization. Review and authorize/deny provider‑ordered prescriptions per guidelines. Deliver patient education tailored to individual needs and group policy. - Patient Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records; post tests and document education. Enter all communications into the medical record. - Clinical Resource for Staff:
Perform and delegate tasks to facilitate patient care. Be aware of coding and reimbursement issues. Support office clinical and non‑clinical staff, assist in orienting and training new staff, seek opportunities to improve nursing and leadership skills. - Other Duties as Assigned:
Employ current nursing practices to provide patient care with focus on patient needs and service excellence. Act as initial contact for patient‑related issues as a member of the healthcare team. Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Current RN licensure in nursing.
- Knowledge of nursing skills in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
- Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA.
- Minimum one year of professional nursing experience in a clinical or hospital setting (new graduates considered under specific circumstances).
