Primary

Purpose Of Position

Perform engineering management and oversight of auxiliary and main steam turbine design engineering supporting nuclear power uprate projects. Manage and oversee specifications, modifications, upgrades, and assessments of auxiliary and main steam turbines. Accountable for turbine implications to overall plant performance. Turbine types include Main Steam Turbines, Steam Generator Feed Pump Turbines, Reactor Feed Pump Turbines. Demonstrate advanced technical/engineering problem solving capabilities of nuclear plant operations while acting as a resource and technical expert to engineers.

Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in steam turbines and their practical applications. Detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement turbine and power plant engineering analysis, activities, and programs.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement and as a turbine subject matter expert when consulted.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve equipment procurement, equipment reliability, and system problems.
  • Directly fulfill engineering and technical leadership accountability regarding short-term and long-term projects that impact site operations.
  • Perform engineering and technical tasks assigned by supervision applying general engineering principles.
  • Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work, ensuring proper configuration management and that standard design criteria, practices, procedures, and codes are used in the preparation of plans and specifications.
  • Perform independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
  • Recommend equipment, new concepts, and techniques to improve performance, simplify procurement and construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
  • All other job assignments and duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management, including emergency response duties, department duty coverage, and support of outage activities as needed.
  • Communicate with turbine Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), specialty consultants, supplemental engineering, and project implementation teams to ensure successful project implementation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear) or related science, or Licensed Professional Engineer, or Active/Inactive SRO License with 5 years of engineering or related experience (including 1 year of nuclear power plant experience).
  • Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Professional Engineer Registration; advanced technical degree or related coursework.
  • 5 years of steam turbine engineering experience.
  • Experience with power plant thermal performance assessment.
