The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, and designing equipment layouts directing and coordinating activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of metal forming equipment across 4 domestic plants.
Location and TravelRole is Hybrid within 50 miles of one of the plants:
East Troy WI, Hopkinsville KY, Salisbury MD, or Eupora MS. Travel to 40% of the time.
Job Responsibilities & Duties

- Provide mechanical and process engineering support to all tube production and finishing facilities.
- Ensure reliability considerations are integrated in new and current equipment and system upgrades.
- Research equipment and equipment components.
- Develop support resources (consultants, vendors, etc.) as required.
- Design equipment and equipment modifications to meet plant and process requirements.
- Aide in capital projects and acquisitions.
- Aide in solving equipment, quality, safety, infrastructure and environmental problems and issues.
- Manage projects as required.
- Supports and participates in Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Excellence activities and initiatives.
- Oversight over asset management company wide-CMMS.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- BSME or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years experience with progressively increasing responsibility in a tube or metals manufacturing or finishing facility.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational capabilities.
- Strong team and leadership skills.
- Good computer skills including MS Office software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project software and Solidworks working knowledge.
- Experience with NEXGEN or other CMMS/Asset management is a plus.
- Providing direction and leadership to local engineering and maintenance teams as needed.
- Willingness to travel approximately up to 40% of the time.

- The employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and various other office equipment.
- When visiting mills the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment and stored energy in the form of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and gravitational energy.
- The noise level at some of the mills in the work environment is above 85 dB and hearing protection is required.
- At the mills, due to manufacturing technologies utilized in the area common contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, oil, steel chips, swarf and water may be present.
- At the mills, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. Also may be exposed to fumes or dust.
