A Day in the LifeAs a Produce Manager, you’ll present a collage of fresh, crisp, bright fruits and vegetables while maintaining organization and supervising employees. Your creativity will shine as you create a colorful masterpiece for customers to enjoy.
Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality customer service in accordance with the Company’s standards and policies.
- Train, schedule, and supervise produce clerks to ensure optimum staffing.
- Manage and achieve departmental financial budget and goals.
- Address and resolve customer complaints calmly and professionally.
- Execute weekly marketing and merchandising plans.
- Perform daily inventory and order supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
- Forecast weekly sales and track daily purchases.
- Support all Corporate/Division initiatives through flawless execution.
- Assist customers in selection and purchase, offering advice as needed.
- Inspect coded items daily to ensure all have a valid code date.
- Create the produce department schedule using accurate sales forecast.
- Follow all Country of Origin labeling requirements.
- Examine produce for freshness; remove old or wet stock to ensure quality.
- Inform customers about produce, provide samples, and promote sales.
- Receive produce deliveries; build and maintain displays; rotate stock.
- Transport large/bulky items from receiving to the department using hand truck or pallet jack.
- Prepare products for placement on the sales floor by trimming, washing, banding, and crisping.
- Maintain area in accordance with all weights, measures, sanitation, food safety, and general safety regulations.
- Manage price accuracy by applying new tags and making signs.
- Clean produce display areas and backroom, including floors, sinks, tables, scales, mirrors, sprayers, and racks.
- Transport bag rolls and twist ties to display areas.
- Inspect floors for debris and water.

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on location, experience, qualifications, and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Benefits include healthcare, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility), dependent on length of service, hours worked, and collective bargaining conditions.
