DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and values-driven General Manager to lead Airlie’s operations, people, and guest experience. The General Manager has full responsibility for the overall performance of the property, balancing financial results with Airlie’s mission, culture, and commitment to sustainability. This role requires a hands-on, thoughtful leader who can steward a complex operation while inspiring teams, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and honoring the unique purpose of the property.
The individual will reside in the Warrenton, VA area. This is a full-time, on-site, exempt position that reports to the SVP | Operations. The salary range for this position is $130,000-$150,000.

Airlie is a historic, mission-driven conference center and hospitality destination set on 300 acres of working farmland in Northern Virginia. With a deep commitment to sustainability, education, and meaningful connection, Airlie brings people together for meetings, retreats, and events that inspire collaboration, creativity, and impact. The property includes guest rooms, meeting and conference facilities, dining venues, outdoor event spaces, and extensive grounds rooted in environmental stewardship and agricultural heritage.
What You Will Be Doing
- Own and oversee all areas of the operation, including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, culinary, conference services, engineering, grounds, sustainability initiatives, and events.
- Lead through your leadership team to maximize financial performance while upholding quality standards, maximizing levels of guest satisfaction, and maintaining colleague engagement.
- Direct the development and execution of the annual strategic plan, the annual budget, and operations plan, emphasizing balanced growth and consistent profitability.
- Communicate the direction and purpose of all initiatives, resulting in colleague & leader ownership, pride, and desired results.
- Achieve and maintain superior balanced scorecard results (revenue, STR, GOP, guest experience, colleague engagement, asset maintenance, etc.), with an unrelenting desire to exceed previous outcomes.
- Inspire and motivate your leaders and colleagues to foster a guest-focused and results-oriented environment.
- Deliver best-in-class guest service and satisfaction by executing against the Modus Ethos, through training, survey analysis, feedback, and incentive programs.
- Actively seek out critical information on market trends, segment behavior, and other data to make informed decisions and remain ahead of the pack.
- Create and promote learning opportunities and development plans for direct reports, fostering a culture of development.
- Champion employee engagement and promote a collaborative and inclusive environment where all employees are encouraged to speak up and their input is valued.
- Serve as a key ambassador of Airlie’s brand, values, and community relationships both on property and externally.
- Collaborate with shared services partners (marketing, revenue management, people & culture, accounting, sales, and Private Club Management), to maximize performance and engage with company wide initiatives.
- Champion our values, vision, and culture.
- Have a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a senior leadership role (Hotel Manager or General Manager - preferred) in the hospitality industry, with at least 3 years’ experience as a General Manager in a full-service property.
- Demonstrated success leading complex, full-service operations with group, conference, and event-driven business.
- Experience operating in mission-driven, values-based, or sustainability-focused environments is highly desirable.
- Have a track record of achieving and maintaining superior results across all areas of the hotel and can articulate the underlying strategies that led to your achievements.
