Description
The SVPA Box Office Assistant will assist the School of Visual and Performing Arts (Music, Theatre & Dance, and Art & Design) in creating a welcoming, efficient, and professional experience for patrons by providing front‑line customer service and assisting with ticket sales at performances, concerts, recitals, and other events.
Duties- Sell tickets through the university’s ticketing platform (credit card and cash sales).
- Operate both the Highlander Theatre box office and mobile box offices for off‑site or alternate venue performances.
- Distribute will‑call tickets and assist patrons with ticket pickup and order inquiries.
- Provide accurate event information to patrons, including show times, seating, parking, and accessibility options.
- Handle cash responsibly in accordance with UCM’s cash‑handling procedures.
- Reconcile cash drawers and ticket sales at the end of shifts.
- Assist with ticket exchanges, refunds, and complimentary ticket processing as directed.
- Assist with audience flow coordination by communicating with ushers and house management during performances.
- Support post‑event tasks, including ticket reconciliation, data entry, and patron record updates.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the SVPA Event Operations Manager and Box Office Manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be a current University of Central Missouri student in good academic standing.
- Energetic, reliable, punctual, and detail‑oriented; able to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable interacting with guests of all ages.
- Federal Work‑Study eligible students preferred and given priority consideration.
- Evenings and weekends, based on the SVPA event schedule. Scheduling varies throughout the semester with heavier workloads during peak event periods.
- Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Students may be hired throughout the year as event needs arise.
Full‑time staff & 12‑month faculty benefits‑eligible position:

- 30.25% (staff) and 6% (faculty) defined retirement contribution, paid 100% by the university.
