Overview
Academic Success Coaches are current students who demonstrate mastery of the holistic elements of academic success. They help students identify barriers to academic success and assist them in creating action plans for overcoming those challenges. Coaches support their assigned students holistically and assist them in gaining effective study strategies and behaviors.
Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with Academic Success Advisors to coordinate the proactive advising model, respond to academic alerts, manage cases, and assist with caseload campaigns and interventions.
- Work one-on-one with students to identify and overcome barriers to academic success.
- Assess students’ current practices and make suggestions for improvement.
- Provide individualized outreach to students based on identified risk factors, including academic, financial, and socio‑emotional.
- Utilize and interpret various assessment tools; develop and employ interpersonal communication skills including face‑to‑face communication, email etiquette, and service referral strategies.
- Assist in the design and facilitation of academic success workshops, interventions, and programs aimed at facilitating success in college.
- Generate reports and utilize data to discern patterns of success/difficulty and design strategic interventions.
- Demonstrate effective academic success strategies and provide accountability partnerships.
- Attend success coach organizational meetings, workshops, trainings, and development courses as required.
- Partner and work cooperatively with university staff, faculty, and administration.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Attention to detail.
- Communication skills, including oral, written, and nonverbal.
- Knowledge of a university environment preferred.
- Human Relations/Interpersonal skills.
- Leadership skills.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and class management software.
Mon – Fri, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. based on availability.
