Primary FunctionThe Respiratory Aide II, under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist, may provide basic respiratory care to non‑acute patients and is responsible for cleaning, assembling, and maintaining respiratory supplies and equipment.
Essential Job Functions- Draw arterial and/or capillary blood samples from patients, process the samples, record and report results, and perform quality controls as required.
- Administer oxygen delivery devices and set up and monitor non‑invasive equipment such as oximeters or end‑tidal CO₂ analyzers.
- Provide basic respiratory therapy techniques including aerosol therapy, postural drainage and percussion, incentive spirometry, metered‑dose inhalers, and other treatment modalities.
- Perform EKGs and understand electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias.
- Clean, sterilize, assemble, test, and maintain par levels of facility respiratory equipment.
- Order, maintain, and deliver oxygen to units.
- Ensure respiratory equipment is available for procedures and examinations.
- Arrange for the repair of broken equipment.
- Fill orders for respiratory supplies and equipment.
- Receive respiratory supplies and equipment deliveries.
- Inspect supplies and equipment deliveries for damage.
- Label storage bins, shelves, and other inventory locations.
- Current Respiratory Care Limited Permit, as required by the state in which you are working.
- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required).
- Current student in good standing with an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program.
- Recent graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program (required).
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and can assess patient data to identify appropriate care needs.
- Neonates (0‑4 weeks), infants (1‑12 months), pediatrics (1‑12 years), adolescents (13‑17 years), adults (18‑64 years), geriatrics (65 years and older).
- High stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- Exposure to high noise levels and bright lights.
- Exposure to limited hazardous substances or body fluids.
- Exposure to human blood and other potentially infectious materials.
- Constant interruptions may occur.

- Knowledge of non‑invasive respiratory therapy equipment.
- Therapeutic procedures including CPAP/BiPAP, jet aerosol, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, chest physiotherapy, pulse oximetry, high‑flow oxygen, continuous aerosols, ventilator management, and diagnostic testing.
- Understanding of EKGs, electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias.
