Job Summary:

The Administrator is responsible for the overall administration and day‑to‑day operation of the program. The Administrator supervises a staff consisting of the Administrative Assistant, Childcare Providers, and Cook. The Administrator trains staff and implements a developmentally appropriate program for the children served. The Administrator interacts with the children, the parents or guardians and external agency personnel. The Administrator, to a feasible extent, ensures full utilization of the center serving up to the maximum capacity of the center.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with staff to ensure adherence to quality standards in accordance with Center guidelines and state and local requirements; implements improvements where needed.
  • Maintained communication with families and community through appropriate activities.
  • Follows all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintains personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement with BELC Staff, Leadership Team, and Administrative Assistant.
  • Designs and implements an appropriate and safe environment for children.
  • Ensures that the center meets all local, state, and federal licensing requirements.
  • Protects children from abuse or neglect, while maintaining respect for self and staff.
  • Directs staff as to their duties, responsibilities, and time schedule.
  • Administers the registration procedure, oversees collections and records of fees paid.
  • Maintains oversight of staff who are conducting effective indoor/outdoor play and other developmentally appropriate programs, child guidance and assessment to fulfill the children’s individual needs.
  • Ensures the safe and successful operation of the center, including the maintenance of proper staff/child ratios.
  • Interact with parents/guardians in resolving problems and makes good faith effort to meet any need that may arise. Strives for on‑going, positive parental involvement.
  • Plans and conducts effective staff meetings, emphasizing two‑way communication.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effective staff supervision, design, and implementation of an appropriate child development program sensitive to the diverse needs of children.
  • Knowledge of business operations, including computer skills.
  • Maintains oversight of Administrative Assistants who completes inventory sheets of needs for Learning Center classrooms.
  • Make calls to delinquent accounts.
  • Contacts parents/guardians if needs arise with children.
  • Oversees updates to phone lists and pickup lists.
  • Updates employee’s and children’s files.
  • Orders office/classroom supplies.
  • Process invoices and receipts.
  • Write and distribute memos.
  • Works in classrooms and kitchen when needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • High‑capacity multi‑task individual who is comfortable working independently without constant supervision.
  • Strong written / oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self‑motivated and directed.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Must possess a consistently cheerful demeanor in dealing with pastors, administration, peers, members, and the public.
  • Must be able to interact positively with co‑workers, developing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Must possess good work habits and behavior; pleasant to work with.
  • Must be able to respond favorably to feedback with direction.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities with a positive attitude.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate/bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field of study or CDA.
  • 2‑3 years of director experience in early childhood setting.
  • Infant/child CPR, First Aid certification, Child Abuse Prevention and Communicable Disease training.
  • Continuing Professional development (OCCRRA) registered.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must pass physical examination and drug screening.
