W.W.T.P. MECHANIC TECHNICIANGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Perform skilled mechanical work and leadership in maintenance and repair of sewage treatment equipment at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
SUPERVISION RECEIVEDWork is performed under the general supervision of the Waste Water Treatment Plant Maintenance manager.
SUPERVISION EXERCISEDSupervise work of Waste Water Treatment Plant Mechanics and others assigned to assist.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORKInspect and service equipment at the Waste Water Treatment Plant, such as chemical feeds, sludge dewatering equipment, filters, conveyor belts, pumping stations, settling tanks, incinerator, and a variety of pumps and other equipment.
Act as crew leader, providing leadership and mechanical work in maintenance, repair and adjustment of sewage equipment utilizing welding, mechanical and leadership skills as necessary.
Operate motorized vehicles such as a hoist truck, front-end loader or other equipment as necessary.
Recommend and carry out preventive maintenance procedures.
Maintain spare parts stock and order parts as necessary.
Perform related work as assigned.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS- Considerable knowledge of the mechanical and electrical equipment of a modern Waste Water Treatment Plant.
- Considerable knowledge of and skill in operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment in a Waste Water Treatment Plant.
- Reasonable knowledge of cutting and welding by electronic and acetylene methods.
- Some knowledge of electrical equipment and controls.
- Ability to detect improper operation of a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and other employees.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. equivalent.
ORIGINAL diploma or official SEALED transcripts REQUIRED at time of application. - Two (2) years of experience as a Waste Water Treatment Plant Mechanic Specialist or three (3) years of experience performing maintenance on stationary mechanical equipment including large pumps, valves and compressors used at modern waste water treatment plants and sanitary sewer collection systems, or drinking water treatment plants or municipal utilities pump stations, or other similar industrial type settings.
- Possess a valid commercial driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Michigan with the proper endorsements, at least a CDL Class B with airbrake.
- Driving records must meet city’s standards for insurability.
$74,789/year - $81,643/year (After 5 years)
