Overview

Villa at City Center is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager RN to join their team. The Nurse Unit Manager RN primary purpose is to manage the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility and ensure the highest quality of care. The role involves assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.

Responsibilities
  • Manages the nursing staff, scheduling breaks, reassigning employees as facility needs dictate, writing performance reviews, and enforcing policies with responsibility to issue coaching and corrective action as needed.
  • Meets with administration, medical and nursing staff, therapy department, and other related departments in planning care.
  • Develops and maintains care standards.
  • Makes frequent rounds to monitor resident/patient conditions and to ensure nursing personnel perform their duties according to acceptable nursing standards.
  • Gives and receives the nursing report at shift change.
  • Ensures assigned work areas, resident/patient care rooms, and treatment areas are kept clean and sanitary.
  • Assists the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
  • Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting.
  • Interprets restorative care policies and procedures to personnel, residents, and family members.
  • Provides direct nursing care as necessary and as department needs may dictate.
  • Ensures restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and the resident’s response to the care.
  • Documents all pertinent data as required by Medicare, Medicaid, company standards and policies.
  • Completes required forms upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
  • Informs nursing service personnel of new admissions, expected time of arrival, room assignment, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and team development skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate to others.
  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
  • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and aptitude to learn company applications.
Education and Experience
  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited college or university.
  • Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Long-Term care and MDS experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices as required.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
