Hydraulic Technician; entry level

Overview

Performs service and repair for hydraulic components.

• Evaluate, build and test cylinders, pumps and motors.
• Evaluate warranty hydraulic cylinders, pumps and motors.
• Attend advanced training within the hydraulic field.
• Reverse engineer hydraulic components.
• Create and document testing procedures.
• Provide hydraulic field service to off‑site customers on an as‑needed basis.
• Design test fixtures and set‑ups.
• Maintain and ensure acceptable cleanliness levels within the hydraulic test area and hydraulic work station.
• Ensure safety rules and safe work practices are followed throughout the department.
• Participate in continuous improvement through training and associate development.
• Correctly size, design and select proper seals and sealing material.
• Read precision measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
• Own every basic hand tool and many specialty tools to service hydraulic equipment at an advanced level.
• Identify component serviceability and level with a high degree of accuracy.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and assist customers by phone or email.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education – High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Mechanical Aptitude – Ability to use a variety of hand tools to operate a forklift and crane. Beginner level ability to qualify hydraulic components. Basic ability to use spare parts prints and schematics to identify components and work within a hydraulic system.
• Skills – Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
• Physical Dexterity – Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Position stands 95‑100% of the workday.
