Job Responsibilities:
Position Overview
As an Engineering Intern at Magna AIM Systems, you will play a vital role in supporting manufacturing processes, optimizing production efficiency and contributing to the overall success of our operations. The internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in manufacturing engineering within a dynamic and innovative work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support creation and timely release of detailed work instructions to guide manufacturing processes.
* Ensure all process-related documentation, including FMEA, control plans, and work instructions, is maintained in proper order.
* Support the corporation Ergonomics program by creating videos and assisting in the creation of job assessments.
* Support meeting PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) requirements and assist in PDR (Production Design Release) runs.
* Contribute to the success of new equipment run-offs and new program prototype builds.
* Interfere with cross-function teams to develop and maintain FMEA, Flow Diagrams, Control Plans and work instructions.
* Collaborate across departments to ensure successful communication and project execution.
* Assist the engineering team in reducing Risk Priority Numbers (RPNs).
* Support various Continuous Improvement (CI) activities across departments.
* Support AMR (Automated Material Replenishment) projects to enhance material flow and efficiency.
* Support Smart Pick rollout activities, including implementation, training and ongoing process optimization.
Qualifications:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
* Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-faces environment.
Education / Experience:
* Candidate currently enrolled in a Manufacturing, Engineering or related technical degree program
* Coursework or project experience in manufacturing processes, quality systems or industrial automation preferred.
* Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or technical environment is a plus.
Special Knowledge /
Skills:
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, PowerPoint) and familiarity with ERP or manufacturing systems.
* Basic understanding of manufacturing documentation such as FMEA, Control Plans and Standardize Work.
* Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
* Interest in automation systems such as AMR and Smart Pick.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
* Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment and assembly plant, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
