Supervisory General Engineer

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

This position is under the U.S. Army Garrison Directorate of Public Works located in Warren, MI.

• Serves as Chief, Engineering Division, providing the full range of real property and facilities design engineering, construction, maintenance, energy conservation, and related engineering services for the Garrison.
• Plans and directs subordinate operations.
• Evaluate effectiveness of subordinate operations through review and analysis of appropriate production reports and inspections.
• Acts as authorized representative of the Contracting officer and /or Division Engineer for Architectural and Engineering service contracts.
• Discuss pertinent problems with responsible design engineers, architects, contractors, and other appropriate personnel and Agencies.
• Supervise the activities of personnel engaged in the engineering activities.
• Act as the delegated authority to make decisions and commitments of a binding nature based on a broad knowledge of engineering, regulatory and statutory requirements as well as the views of superiors.
• Coordinate facility engineering services to include but not limited to contract quality assurance, design/construction plan, installation custodial contract services, and facilities reduction.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE
  450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
• This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
