Job SummaryThe Defense Systems Senior Engineer will apply systems engineering principles in the development of project plans , requirements, design, and validation of different multidisciplinary system solutions. This role will drive the design of complex defense systems for customer projects by working with multiple internal engineering disciplines as well as external suppliers and customers. The Defense Systems Engineer II will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop system and sub-system requirements, including the decomposition and traceability to component level requirements.
- Develop the vehicle and subsystem-level integration.
- Develop and track requirements, validation plans, and test data to ensure the design meets customer objectives.
- Utilize simulation tools such as Simulink or Lab View to model complex systems to guide the requirements definition and design activities.
- Coordinate design input from multiple engineering disciplines from within the company and from external suppliers and customers.
- Design and develop hardware, systems, and validation testing setups.
- Integration of various components into existing and established architectures.
- Systems evaluation for new hardware upgrades and integration of new and legacy technology.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related engineering field
- 5+ years’ experience in systems engineering, designing and optimizing complex systems
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering.
- Experience developing and writing requirements definitions.
- Master’s degree in engineering or computer science.
- Proficient in designing, configuring, and testing data networks to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Experience with the engineering and integration of ground vehicle electronics systems and subsystems.
- Experience with ‘V-Model’ development process steps and methodologies
- Experience with creating and managing SysML and Simulink diagrams and models
- Knowledge of Ethernet, CANBUS, PCIE, video distribution networks, and in vehicle networks.
- Proven ability to interface with software, network, hardware development and integration teams.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to quickly assimilate and apply new concepts, business models, and technologies.
- Working knowledge of Vetronics systems and application.
- Detailed understanding of business processes: creation, refinement, and gap analyses.
- Effectively communicates with customers, actively listening to identify and address their specific needs and preferences.
- Knowledge of network topology, communications standards, and protocols.
- Currently holding or the ability to obtain a Secret DOD security clearance.
- Familiarity with defense systems architecture frameworks (i.e. MOSA, GCIA, FACE).
