Job DescriptionThe job of a Family Resource Assistant was established for the purpose/s of building and strengthening the home-school connection with our families where English is not the primary language.

Probationary Rate
:
$17.43/hr after 45 worked days rate increases to $18.11/hr.
Qualifications
:
High school diploma or its equivalent. Must understand, speak, read and write English. Must be fluent in Bangla and have ability to write and speak language. Ability to work with students is required. Must have basic skills assessment, pertinent to position qualifications at 70%. Selected candidates will be contacted for testing if requirements are not on file with the district.
All Language Acquisition Aides must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 credit hours)
- Obtained an Associate's Degree or higher
- ETS Para Pro Assessment
- Michigan Test for Teacher Certification - Basic Skills (MTTC)
- Work Keys:
Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Writing portions of the Work Keys prior to June 1, 2017 will meet state requirements
Basic Responsibilities
:
- Fluently speak and write in Bangla to support the need of the stakeholders
- Maintain timely communications with administrators for the purpose of promoting the goals of the parent involvement program.
- Assist parents with the completion of school documents for the purpose of registering students.
- Build positive relationships with families for the purpose of promoting student success.
- Build relationships with community organizations for the purpose of assisting parents in helping with their student’s physical, educational and emotional growth.
- May be required to translate at alternate sites and evening school district activities (e.g., parent teacher conferences, open houses, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring delivery of services to district families.
- Perform recordkeeping duties (e.g., work logs, parent communication logs, parent involvement activity documentation, etc.) for the purpose of supporting Federal Grant and district requirements.
- Promote and maintain parent education activities and materials for the purpose of providing support to families.
- Translate verbal and written communication(s) for the purpose of conveying district/building information.
- Maintain regular personal attendance and punctuality for the purpose of ensuring efficient delivery of services to the District.
- Occasionally assist other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
