Job Description
We are seeking a  Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician  for an ongoing  locum tenens opportunity in Lansing, Michigan , supporting a high-acuity, high-volume Emergency Department through 2026. This assignment is designed to cover a recruitment gap and offers a robust clinical environment with strong APP and nursing support.

Accepted providers will be added to a  PRN float pool , with open shifts distributed via email once credentialed.

Weekdays (Monday–Friday):

6:00 AM – 4:00 PM

10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

12:00 PM – 10:00 PM

4:00 PM – 2:00 AM

8:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Weekends (Saturday & Sunday):

6:00 AM – 4:00 PM

10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

4:00 PM – 2:00 AM

8:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Clinical Environment

Annual ED Volume:  ~40,000 visits

Average Patients per Day:  ~110

Number of ED Beds:  42

Trauma Designation:  Level III

Admissions from ED:  ~70%

Patients Admitted Daily:  ~22%

Transfers:
Fast Track:  Yes (APP staffed, ~15% of volume)

EMR System:  Cerner

Staffing & Support

Full nursing support

Advanced Practice Provider coverage (12 hours daily)

Emergency physicians supervise  APPs and residents

Hospitalists manage admission orders

ED staff  does not respond to house codes

Procedures & Skills Required
Providers must be comfortable performing a full scope of Emergency Medicine procedures, including but not limited to:

Airway and ventilation management

Central and arterial lines

EKG interpretation

Lumbar puncture, paracentesis, arthrocentesis

Orthopedic fracture management (non-displaced)

Laceration repair and I&D

Psychiatric evaluations (adult, pediatric, geriatric – uncomplicated)

Newborn resuscitation

Emergency cardiac and volume/BP management

Credentialing & Compliance

Estimated credentialing timeframe based on clean background

Orientation provided (reduced-rate orientation policy applies)

Reverse billing site — provider must clock in/out electronically

Malpractice coverage must be included

Presentation Requirements

Current, up-to-date CV (including locum history)

Provider contact information

Availability and preferred shifts

NPI and/or license number

Malpractice and/or background documentation

References (if available)

Required Qualifications

Board Certified in Emergency Medicine

ABEM or AOBEM only (no BE candidates)

Active Michigan medical license  at time of presentation (no exceptions)

BLS certification  (required)

Emergency Department experience  (highly preferred)

Local provider required  (no exceptions)

Clean background  for expedited credentialing

Copy of NPDB Self-Query required at presentation

Must be dated within  30 days
