Practice Nurse

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at The Avenue as a full time Practice Nurse. The post holder will be expected to deliver evidenced based care to the practice population in conjunction with other members of the practice team.

They will work autonomously abiding by the NMC code of conduct, using practice guidelines and protocols.

The successful candidate will work as part of the primary care healthcare team, delivering high-quality personal medical services to our practice registered patients.

The professional responsibilities will include supporting and implementing evidence-based guidelines in conjunction with the lead nurse and practice nursing team as well as offering support to HCA/TNA & NA team members in their professional development and learning.

Be able to identify their own training needs, ensuring personal development using study days, reading and other appropriate methods of evidence-based study for learning and education.

Clinical responsibilities will include wound management, undertake doppler assessments, ear examination and advice, have a knowledge of contraception for all stages of life, cervical screening, administration of both adult and paediatric vaccinations, administration of injections and also travel health and advice. To provide lifestyle advice to enable patients to maintain optimum health, using outside resources as appropriate.

A basic understanding of the Quality & Outcome Framework to enable to support the practice to achieve maximum points, providing patients with the care underpinned within the framework

The Avenue Surgery is a non-dispensing, training practice, caring for circ.
18500 patients in and around the semi‑rural town of Warminster, Wiltshire which is within an easy commute to the cities of Bath and Salisbury.

The practice is led by 8 GP partners and a hard working team of both clinical and administration staff. The team are very committed to the surgery vision to provide a service that works with, and for, the community to meet the widest range of care, health promotion and education for our patients and staff members.
