Overview

The British squad boasts 16 F1 World Championship titles and a long-term mission to evolve and return to the front of the grid. RolePurpose
To measure and check parts for conformance to specification and perform other metrology and analysis tasks. Components could be made by any of the prevailing techniques used in Formula 1 vehicle manufacture, with a predominant focus on composites.
Main Duties- Applying knowledge of manufacturing technologies to aid in inspection of composite components.
- Use of metrology tools and methods; visual inspection, hand tools, programming and operating CMMs, use of Absolute/Romer arms (probing and scanning), shadow graphs, surface testers and contour tracing machines.
- Ensure that parts are inspected and processed during the required time periods.
- Show excellent communication skills in reporting pertinent information to designers, manufacturers and other team members.
- Effective organisation with a proactive approach to using procedures that encourage continuous improvement. Take pride in work and operate with minimum supervision.
- Be flexible to provide support in metallic quality control if required.
- Understand and work in line with Williams Values & Behaviours, encouraging others to do the same.
- Ensure understanding of and compliance with health and safety obligations.
- Maintain personal high standards of behaviour and conduct, being a positive ambassador for the department.
- Adhere to brand rules and maintain high standards of department presentation.
- Work to quality standards and identify and contribute ways to continuously improve department and personal performance.
- Understand cost cap rules and requirements.
- Ability to complete routine and complex inspection processes using a variety of tools.
- Proactive approach with the ability to work at a sustainable pace.
- Strong knowledge of components and parts manufactured in metals, plastics and carbon fibre composites.
- Confidence to independently draw meaningful conclusions on part quality and keep data up to date and accurate.
- Recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in a similar environment.
- Strong GD&T understanding.
- Previous experience with Absolute arms and Leica trackers (Polyworks software), including probing, scanning, and CMMs (Polyworks) is highly advantageous.
