Main duties of the job
  • To support the development, organisation and delivery of a Triage and assessment service
  • To contribute to the effective working of the NDT team by creating and maintaining databases to track referrals, assessments, interventions and producing reports from this data.
  • To support in the design and implementation of audit and research projects to inform the Lead Psychologist and others in the development of Trust psychology and other services, training provision and research activities.
  • Conduct surveys with service users and carers to gather views on service provision
  • To receive regular clinical and professional supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines and undertake personal training relevant to the post in agreement with the supervising psychologist and the manager.
  • To respond appropriately and professionally to emotionally distressing situations and to support others involved in such situations.
  • Be involved in the pre and post diagnostic offer, by supporting groups and workshops delivery.
  • Support screening and reviewing clinical information related to young people presenting with Neurodevelopmental (ND) difficulties, and making onward referrals for assessments withing NDT or signposting to other services as required.
  • Be involved in a variety of tasks in the NDT, including liaising with young people/ families/ multi-agency professionals, arranging school observations, managing risk, and offering clinical assessments if indicated.

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.

Job responsibilities

Clinical

  • To provide specialist assessments, including cognitive assessments, of young children and their parents/carers referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and where appropriate, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews in line with CYP IAPT methodology.
  • To formulate and implement plans for evidence-based interventions, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, to improve the parent/child relationship.
  • To be responsible for implementing a range of psychotherapeutic interventions employed individually and in synthesis, maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses, adjusting and refining formulations or understandings, drawing upon different explanatory models and employing methods of intervention that are based upon evidence of efficacy.
