Are you a patient, compassionate, and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? A welcoming Secondary School in Wandsworth is seeking an experienced SEN 1 : 1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026.
About the RoleIn this rewarding position, you’ll provide targeted 1 : 1 support to pupils with additional needs — including those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) requirements and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You’ll also work with small groups to promote engagement, progress, and confidence across the curriculum.
Your key responsibilities will include :- Providing individualised support for students with SEN, particularly SEMH and EHCP needs.
- Supporting teachers in delivering differentiated, inclusive lessons.
- Helping students manage emotions, develop communication, and access learning.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and reinforcing social and emotional development.
- Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals to implement personalised support strategies.
You’ll be an empathetic and resilient Teaching Assistant with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting young people. You’ll thrive on helping students overcome barriers to learning and gain confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
Essential requirements :- Experience supporting students with SEN, particularly SEMH or EHCPs, in a school setting.
- A calm, nurturing approach and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
- Relevant SEN training or TA qualification (Level 2 /
3). - Experience working within secondary education.
- Supportive and inclusive staff team with a strong focus on student wellbeing.
- Continuous professional development opportunities.
