About the roleWe are looking for a Senior AI software engineer to support the Research & Systems Engineering team. The role facilitates the research, design, and deployment of new machine learning/artificial intelligence models to embed within current and future product portfolios. You will own the technical responsibility for all AI features in the image processing and model training portfolio.

What you’ll do- Design and lead innovative AI projects from start to finish and provide technical guidance to other team members.
- Break down new AI features into actionable work items and help the team estimate time and complexity.
- Produce coherent and concise technical documentation of AI-based projects, with summaries and evidence of work completed.
- Manage AI model codebases from research to production levels.
- Communicate with other teams (Systems, Software Development) to improve team effectiveness.
- Contribute to the creation and filing of patents to protect intellectual property, working with legal and IP teams as needed.
- Implement state-of-the-art AI/ML models and evaluate performance against key business objectives, introducing research prototypes and features into the portfolio of market-leading instruments.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and deliver to deadlines.
- Methodical and organized, with detailed record-keeping.
- Ability to absorb complex bioinformatic concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of biotech industry with focus on cell development practices.
- Deep knowledge of convolutional models and latest techniques.
- Proficiency in major deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, Keras, Tensor Flow).
- MSc or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, AI, Computational Biology, or related quantitative field, or equivalent master’s-level experience delivering AI/ML solutions.
- 2+ years of experience applying ML/AI to microscope images or biological problems.
- 3-4 years of experience with major deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, Keras, Tensor Flow).
- Experience with ONNX is preferred.
- Demonstrable industry experience delivering computer vision-based AI projects, preferably in biotech.
- The ability to work on a laptop or desktop computer for prolonged periods.
- The ability to lift at least 15 lb.

Targeted salary range$145,000 - $170,000 per year. The salary range reflects base salary or hourly rate for this opening and may vary based on location, skills, and education.
