8-hour shifts
* Weekend, holiday, and vacation coverage as needed

Position SummaryThe Surgical Center Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care throughout all phases of the surgical experience while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality care. This role is cross‑trained to support pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative (PACU) functions as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Provide emotional support and patient‑centered care during the pre‑operative, operative, and recovery phases.
- Coordinate pre‑ and post‑operative activities to ensure efficient surgical flow and continuity of care.
- Conduct and document pre‑operative assessments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Prepare surgical rooms and verify necessary supplies and equipment.
- Assist surgical technicians with case setup.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
- Perform surgical counts per protocol.
- Transport patients to and from procedure rooms.
- Provide detailed handoff communication to the recovery team.
- Receive patients from the operating room and obtain a comprehensive clinical report including procedure details, medications administered, fluids, anesthesia agents, complications, and emotional status.
- Perform and document post‑anesthesia assessments.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the physician.
- Review discharge instructions with patients and families, ensuring understanding and addressing questions.
- Prepare patients for discharge to ensure continuity and quality of nursing care.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and safety standards at all times.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
- Active RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Minimum of 2 years of surgical nursing experience required.
- Strong competency in nursing assessments and IV therapy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
