Nurse Practitioner - Flex Infusion and Ambulatory

Position Summary

Seeking an APRN for a flexible outpatient role supporting services through extended service rotations, providing several consecutive months on each team to promote deeper clinical immersion and continuity of care. Serve as a primary clinical provider for infants, children, and adolescents in these outpatient clinics:
Gastroenterology, Allergy, Pulmonary, Infectious Disease, and primary care. Initial coverage will be in Infusion. This role works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to provide direct patient care, care coordination, triage, and family education for children with complex and chronic conditions. The APRN supports both scheduled clinic visits and ambulatory treatments, with rotating schedules to meet program and patient needs.

• Ambulatory outreach clinics: Provide direct patient care for new and returning pediatric patients – 6 sessions per week.
• Infusion/day treatment: Deliver clinical coverage in an ambulatory clinic serving over 8,000 patients annually, including treatments such as biologic infusions, blood products, food challenges, and day treatment for newly diagnosed diabetes, migraine management, sickle cell fever and pain, and central line complications.
• Independent infusion and acute reactions management.
• Primary provider of patient care: Facilitate patient care including medical histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluation, and development and implementation of evidence-based treatment plans for both new and returning patients.
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams: Promote optimal clinical outcomes and patient safety.
• Patient triage, clinical care coordination, and on-site coverage for urgent patient needs.
• Primary communicator: Serve as a primary communicator for patient and family questions, including phone triage for outpatient concerns.
• Medication refills and prior authorizations: Assist with medication refills, prior authorizations, and coordination of long-term treatment plans.
• Orientation and onboarding: Orientation includes a structured, individualized onboarding program with additional training when starting in each new department, tailored to each APP's experience level, clinical background, and learning needs.

• Full-time, 32-40 hours per week.
• Combination of four 10-hour days or mixed 8, 10, and 12 hour shifts.
• Flexible schedule, including rotating day and evening shifts.
• Periodic weekend coverage, every 3rd weekend (only while covering in Infusion/Day treatment).
• No holidays.
• Rotation to satellite locations include:
  Waltham, Boston, Weymouth, Needham, and Peabody.

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

• Minimum of 1 year RN experience required.
• Minimum of 2 years pediatric RN or NP experience required.
• PNP experience strongly preferred.
• Prior experience with pediatric primary care strongly preferred.
• Strong physical assessment, diagnostic, patient education, and care coordination skills.

• MA licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (PNP or FNP).
• Current NP license required.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
