Senior Cloud Operations Engineer, Deployments
Location:
Waltham, Massachusetts – is a US Citizenship required role due to occasional Fed Ramp work.
As a member of the Cloud Operations team, you will be a key contributor responsible for the reliability and availability of Pegasystems cloud service offerings. We operate as a global follow‑the‑sun 24/7 team across Bangalore, Sydney and the East Coast U.S. We encourage a culture of diversity, openness, intellectual curiosity and problem‑solving.

You will take ownership of the systems you manage, dig quickly to the root of issues, understand why they happened and prevent recurrence. By collaborating and communicating with customers and internal stakeholders, you will deliver best‑in‑class support.
What You'll Do at Pega- Provision new environments and upgrade infrastructure components & product application
- Decommission existing environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer environment issues including root‑cause analysis
- Create and maintain operational runbooks
- Document standard operating procedures for daily tasks
- Participate in pre‑release product enhancement testing with Engineering
- Identify opportunities for automation of repetitive tasks and reduce toil
- Write scripts to automate repetitive tasks
- Schedule upgrade tasks, hotfixes and patches with the team
- Execute deployment of system updates, patches and hotfixes
- Monitor the ticket queue and distribute tickets timely
- Monitor the email distribution list for escalation and respond promptly
- Prepare handoff documentation for other global teams
- Accept on‑call support 24/7 on a rotational basis
- Work Tuesday–Saturday shifts as required
- Professional experience in an enterprise cloud environment supporting SaaS applications with a focus on operational delivery excellence and customer service
- Self‑motivated, inquisitive, creative with a passion for continuous improvement and excellent people skills
- Works well with cross‑functional global and remote teams
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, techniques and tools quickly
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced, enterprise environment
- Customer‑obsessed with proven empathy towards customers
- 5+ years operational/engineering experience with Java/Tomcat applications
- 5+ years enterprise‑scale Linux administration
- Hands‑on experience with AWS and/or GCP
- Deep understanding of cloud‑based infrastructure, upgrades, backup, monitoring, observability
- Experience with microservices/Kubernetes a plus
- Administration of Tomcat, Apache, IIS, Nginx web servers
- Basic network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN) a plus
- Experience in Bash/Shell, Python or similar for automation a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
Base salary range: 100,400 – 150,200 USD annually. Role may also be eligible for annual bonus or commission, and other benefits.
