Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Waltham, Massachusetts. This role requires expertise in corporate tax, sales tax, and general accounting practices to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach to managing journal entries and maintaining the general ledger.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and file corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

- Calculate and manage sales tax payments accurately and on time.

- Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain financial accuracy.

- Oversee and update the general ledger to reflect accurate financial information.

- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.

- Conduct financial analysis to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.

- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial data.

- Support audits by providing requested documentation and information.

- Stay updated on changes in tax laws to ensure ongoing compliance.

- Generate reports detailing financial performance and tax-related activities. Requirements - Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and filing.

- Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and processes.

- Proficiency in managing journal entries and maintaining a general ledger.

- Familiarity with financial reporting and closing procedures.

- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
