High School Jewish Studies Teacher

Overview

Gann Academy is hiring a Jewish Studies Teacher for the  school year. This is an in-person, full-time position starting in August 2026. The salary range is between $55,000 and $90,000 annually, commensurate with relevant work experience and qualifications.

• Teaching Jewish Studies classes and experiential modules
• Preparing lessons and developing curriculum
• Collaborating with colleagues and school administration to plan and implement Israel educational programming and school-wide events (e.g., Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, Yom HaAtzmaut, Zman Kodesh, Shabbat and Holiday Programming, and Student Leadership)
• Working with students outside the classroom as needed
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across all departments
• Attending and participating in department meetings and curriculum development activities
• Assisting with substitution when able and arranging class coverage as needed
• Engaging in professional development and growth; supporting educational growth and innovative tools in and out of the classroom
• Maintaining records and communicating with parents about progress and student issues using the school database
• Completing required paperwork and meeting deadlines for employment processes

• Work with students as an identity advisor to guide and mentor students through their Jewish journeys
• Lead Zman Kodesh sessions (two mornings per week and during other times as applicable)
• Plan and implement Israel educational programming and holiday programming in collaboration with others
• Attend and participate in parent/teacher conferences and advisor conferences, including possible evening appointments
• Maintain professional communication with families and colleagues

• A background in Jewish studies with strong knowledge of Jewish texts and traditions
• Experience designing curriculum and planning lessons
• Experience working with teens
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community members
• Ability to work within a pluralistic Jewish setting
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects with attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• A master’s degree or higher is preferred
