Overview
Gann Academy is hiring a Jewish Studies Teacher for the school year. This is an in-person, full-time position starting in August 2026. The salary range is between $55,000 and $90,000 annually, commensurate with relevant work experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities- Teaching Jewish Studies classes and experiential modules
- Preparing lessons and developing curriculum
- Collaborating with colleagues and school administration to plan and implement Israel educational programming and school-wide events (e.g., Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, Yom HaAtzmaut, Zman Kodesh, Shabbat and Holiday Programming, and Student Leadership)
- Working with students outside the classroom as needed
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across all departments
- Attending and participating in department meetings and curriculum development activities
- Assisting with substitution when able and arranging class coverage as needed
- Engaging in professional development and growth; supporting educational growth and innovative tools in and out of the classroom
- Maintaining records and communicating with parents about progress and student issues using the school database
- Completing required paperwork and meeting deadlines for employment processes
- Work with students as an identity advisor to guide and mentor students through their Jewish journeys
- Lead Zman Kodesh sessions (two mornings per week and during other times as applicable)
- Plan and implement Israel educational programming and holiday programming in collaboration with others
- Attend and participate in parent/teacher conferences and advisor conferences, including possible evening appointments
- Maintain professional communication with families and colleagues
- A background in Jewish studies with strong knowledge of Jewish texts and traditions
- Experience designing curriculum and planning lessons
- Experience working with teens
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community members
- Ability to work within a pluralistic Jewish setting
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects with attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A master’s degree or higher is preferred
