Grow with Welch's!

Welch's is on a journey towards our bold ambition of being the global-leader of convenient, good for you fruit-based food and beverages. To turn this goal into a reality we need you and other exceptionally talented, agile, and innovative individuals who are eager to contribute to something extraordinary!

At Welch's, we're not just offering a job; we're inviting you to be a part of a vibrant, authentic, and inclusive culture where you not only belong, but also have the opportunity to unleash the best, most authentic version of you.

The Manager of Sustainability & Regulatory Compliance is a high-level analytical thinker and problem solver who helps Welch’s navigate the rapidly changing landscape of environmental, packaging, and sustainability regulations. This role is designed for someone who loves decoding complexity, translating ambiguity into clarity, and enabling smarter business decisions. This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer.

As an individual contributor, you will function as the organization’s internal expert on sustainability-related compliance, particularly as it relates to packaging, materials, labeling, climate reporting, and environmental claims in a CPG/Food & Beverage context. You will build frameworks, models, and risk assessments that help the business understand regulatory requirements, potential cost impacts, and trade-offs between compliance, product feasibility, and innovation.

Your superpower is connecting the dots: understanding how regulations influence packaging choices, supply chain decisions, operational realities, costs, and consumer-facing claims. You will partner closely with Packaging, R&D, Brand & Innovation, Finance, and Operations to provide data-driven insights that shape sustainable product strategy.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on intellectual challenges and is motivated by helping a mission-driven company make informed, responsible, and competitive choices.

Key Responsibilities Regulatory Insight & Interpretation
  • Monitor and interpret emerging environmental and packaging regulations with relevance to CPG and Food & Beverage.
  • Translate regulatory language into clear business impacts, identifying risks, opportunities, and cost implications.
  • Build compliance matrices that clarify required actions, timelines, and potential financial exposure.
Analytical Problem Solving
  • Create models and scenario analyses to evaluate:
    • EPR fees and future cost exposure
    • PCR and recyclability requirements
    • Packaging design limitations or opportunities
    • Trade-offs between sustainability goals, operational feasibility, and consumer expectations
  • Develop frameworks that help teams evaluate decisions using data, not assumptions.
Cross-Functional Decision Support
  • Partner with Packaging and R&D to assess new materials, formats, and technologies for compliance fit and future readiness.
  • Provide Brand & Innovation with guidance on allowable environmental claims and marketing guardrails (e.g., FTC Green Guides, recyclability standards).
  • Collaborate with Finance to forecast fees, taxes, and compliance costs.
  • Support Operations in evaluating facility-level environmental reporting needs.
Compliance & Reporting Execution
  • Manage regulatory filings related to EPR, bottle bills, PCR requirements, and climate-related disclosures.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness in all documentation.
  • Maintain organized, accessible records in support of internal and external reviews.
Sustainability as Competitive Advantage
  • Identify areas where compliance and sustainability can strengthen the brand, differentiate our products, or unlock innovation.
  • Help the business anticipate regulatory trends early enough to turn constraints into opportunities.
  • Support the development of sustainability messaging rooted in truth, transparency, and defensible claims.
Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in CPG or Food & Beverage, ideally with exposure to packaging, sustainability, or product development.
  • Strong analytical background with demonstrated ability to model trade-offs, forecast risks, and synthesize complex inputs.
  • Working knowledge of environmental or packaging regulations (EPR, PCR,…
