Senior Social Worker - Safeguarding

About the Role

Walsall Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker to join its Children's Safeguarding service on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is confident in managing complex cases and committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities
Hold and manage a varied and complex caseload in line with statutory requirements.
Undertake high‑quality assessments, direct work, and intervention planning to safeguard children at risk of harm.
Lead on child protection processes, including Section 47 enquiries, Initial Child Protection Conferences, and Child in Need planning.
Produce timely, evidence‑based reports for court proceedings and multi‑agency meetings.
Work collaboratively with families, partner agencies, schools, health services, and other professionals to promote children's safety and wellbeing.
Provide professional guidance, support, and mentoring to less experienced team members.
Ensure all work complies with legislation, local policies, and best practice standards.

About You
Is a qualified Social Worker with SWE registration.
Has strong experience within children's safeguarding, child protection, and complex casework.
Brings excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills.
Can work under pressure while delivering high‑quality, child‑centred practice.
Is confident in partnership working and multi‑agency coordination.
