Salary: G10 £ 47,181 - £50,269 per annum.

We’re searching for an innovative, passionate leader to join our Housing & Welfare Service in a permanent capacity. This is your opportunity to make a substantial impact, driving excellence in housing and homelessness services for people of all ages and backgrounds.
As Senior Housing & Welfare Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing Walsall Council’s temporary accommodation services, overseeing a dedicated team of Housing Support Tenancy Officers. You will motivate and lead your team to deliver high‑quality support for residents experiencing housing insecurity.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring and enhancing the effectiveness of Temporary Accommodation provision, driving continuous improvement across service delivery, and embedding your legislative expertise throughout every aspect of the team’s work.
Key Responsibilities- Champion Effective Homelessness Support:
Lead initiatives to prevent and resolve homelessness and the challenges faced by vulnerable residents. - Empower the Team:
Inspire, guide, and provide expert advice to colleagues, enabling them to deliver exceptional support to residents navigating housing insecurity. - Drive Service Excellence:
Harness data and customer insights to identify inefficiencies, measure performance, and implement targeted improvements across our homelessness and housing services. - Advance Staff Development:
Proactively identify training needs and nurture team growth, creating a culture of learning and adaptability. - Lead Complex Casework:
Oversee detailed case reviews, prepare comprehensive reports, and participate in multi‑agency meetings, ensuring robust responses for the most challenging cases in accordance with statutory guidance.
- Support Vulnerable Residents:
You are dedicated to protecting residents’ well‑being and developing new ways to prevent and address homelessness. - Analytical Innovator:
You utilise evidence and data to inform strategy, improve outcomes, and drive change within services. - Team Player & Collaborator:
You build strong partnerships across teams and agencies, supporting a unified approach to addressing homelessness. - Demonstrated experience in a Temporary Accommodation or Social Housing environment.
