Overview
We are offering a permanent, full-time Electrician position on the Walsall Street lighting account in Walsall (on-site at WS10 8JR
, surrounding area). Driving Licence is essential (C1 Driving Licence desirable). City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation. Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391) or HERS/HEA equivalent. Experienced working with electrical installations within the public realm & highways. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Must be able to work outdoors in challenging weather conditions.
Salary: £27,616 per year - estimated. Standby payments on a 1 in 4 rota, and overtime compensation at 1.5 times the standard rate during standby periods. This role is on a permanent basis with regular duties and opportunities to contribute to street lighting maintenance and safety.
What you’ll do is on-site and will support the proper installation and maintenance of street lighting, contributing to public safety and community well-being.
Responsibilities- Install electrical equipment for street lighting, including street light columns, bollards, signs and feeders, conforming to HEA and IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations
- Repair lanterns with interchangeable electronic components
- Attend to routine street lighting faults
- Diagnose and replace failed components
- Excavate for bollard and sign foundations
- Take part in out-of-hours emergency services on a call-out basis
- Ensure the security of plant, tools and materials; safe use of vehicles; wear appropriate PPE
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures
- Attend training deemed appropriate, which may require occasional overnight stays; participate in regular toolbox talks
