Overview

Little London Surgery is a busy, friendly GP practice serving a diverse population. We are looking for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our clinical team and help deliver safe, high-quality care for our patients.

We are part of South 1 Primary Care Network (PCN) a collaborative group of 8 other member practices, offering shared learning, MDT, shared workforce.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ANP who enjoys autonomous practice, teamwork, and making a real difference in primary care.

  • Independent assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients
  • Same day/urgent care and routine appointments (depending on service need)
  • Prescribing and appropriate clinical decision-making
  • Working closely with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, and the wider team

We’re looking for someone who

  • Is an experienced ANP with strong primary care skills
  • Has excellent communication and clinical reasoning
  • Works well under pressure while maintaining kindness and professionalism
  • Understands safeguarding, confidentiality, and clinical governance
Main duties of the job

Job purpose

To provide advanced clinical care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and referral for patients presenting with acute, urgent, and routine primary care needs. The ANP will work autonomously and as part of the wider MDT.

Key responsibilities

Clinical

  • Undertake face-to-face and telephone consultations with patients of all ages where appropriate
  • Assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients within scope of ANP practice
  • Request, interpret and act upon investigations
  • Prescribe medications and/or treatment plans in line with qualification, PGDs, and best practice
  • Refer appropriately to secondary care and community services
  • Provide safety-netting and clear documentation for all consultations
  • Recognise deteriorating patients and escalate appropriately
  • Participate in duty/urgent care (if required by rota)

Long-term conditions (if within skillset)

  • Support management of chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension)
  • Contribute to preventative care: immunisations, screening uptake, health promotion

We are a busy, well established training practice serving approximately 9,700 patients in a diverse area of South Walsall. Our clinical team includes three GP partners, one salaried GP, practice nurses, HCAs and a wider multidisciplinary team, all supported by an experienced and friendly administrative and reception team.

  • Contribute to significant event reviews, learning from incidents, and audit
  • Maintain up-to-date mandatory training and professional registration
  • Work within safeguarding procedures and follow practice escalation routes

Teamwork

  • Work closely with GPs, nursing team, pharmacists, paramedics, HCAs and admin staff
  • Provide support and advice to colleagues where appropriate
  • Contribute to improving pathways, templates, and patient flow
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills with evidence of autonomous practice
  • Experience working in General Practice
  • Excellent communication and consultation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage risk appropriately
