Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home Manager for Stafford Specialist Care Centre. The Home Manager will oversee daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of care and supervising a team of caregivers. Leadership will focus on developing care plans, particularly for dementia care.
Job Responsibilities- Lead by example and develop effective teams.
- Develop a positive working environment and support staff through training and development.
- Provide supervision, annual appraisal, and mentorship to Team Leaders and senior staff.
- Maintain strong working relationships between staff and residents.
- Conduct regular meetings: weekly residents and Team Leader meetings, fortnightly staff meetings.
- Collaborate with Recruitment and Training Manager on recruitment and retention.
- Provide support and guidance to the staff team.
- Ensure mandatory and refresher training is completed.
- Carry out disciplinary and grievance procedures in line with policy.
- Provide regular on‑call cover.
- Ensure staff adhere to codes of practice and the Staff Handbook.
- Run the Home in line with statutory and Home from Home policies.
- Adhere to Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements.
- Develop a culture of staff development and expertise.
- Conduct monthly Quality Assessment Audits.
- Take responsibility for leadership areas directed by the Operations Manager.
- Manage delegated budgets and report discrepancies.
- Ensure financial systems compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and personal information per Data Protection Act and Information Governance.
- Attend reviews, Manager meetings, and contribute to agendas.
- Ensure Health & Safety regulations and guidance are met.
- Complete RIDDOR and Reg.
37 reports and ensure staff H&S training. - Assess and mitigate risks to service users and staff.
- Maintain premises cleanliness and hygiene.
- Work within H&S policy and procedures.
- Maintain effective links with Head Office and families/carers.
- Implement joint initiatives such as Person‑Centred Plans and Health Action Plans.
- Celebrate and share success with residents, colleagues, and partners.
- Ensure equality in the workplace and respect individuality.
- Act as an ambassador for the Home and represent the Company at events.
- Undertake ongoing professional development.
- Uphold company values and ethos.
- Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Minimum 1st Level Registered Nurse with a valid NMC pin.
- NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to achieve).
- Previous senior management experience in a care home.
- Sound knowledge of CQC requirements and related regulations.
- Strong leadership, motivation, and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relational abilities with residents, families, and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Passion for delivering high‑quality care to residents.
- Managerial: 1 year (required)
- Care home: 1 year (required)
- NMC licence (required)
- Driving licence (required)
Starting at £70,000 per year.
