Salary: Band G10 £ 47,181 – £50,269

About the Project

The Nature Towns and Cities Project is a transformative programme designed to enhance Walsall’s green and blue spaces, promote biodiversity, and integrate nature and health priorities into the heart of our borough’s regeneration. Working with partners – Natural England, Birmingham & Black Country Wildlife Trust, Canal and River Trust, University of Birmingham, Walsall Together, and local community groups – the project will deliver lasting benefits for residents, visitors and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Project Management: oversee the successful delivery of the Nature Towns & Cities project, including developing and implementing a Nature and Health Strategy and Action Plan.
  • Financial Oversight: handle a £1m+ revenue programme, including budget management, grant claims and procurement.
  • Compliance and Reporting: ensure adherence to Council and funder policies, financial regulations, and produce detailed reports for stakeholders.
Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in project management (preferably in the green space or conservation sector), experience with large‑scale, multi‑agency partnerships, budget management skills and the ability to influence at all levels. A relevant degree or equivalent experience and a recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) or equivalent experience are essential. For internal council candidates the role can be applied for as a fixed‑term role, or a secondment.
