G8: £39,152 - £41,771 per annum.
Community Protection are a hard‑working, responsive front‑line service who protect the communities and environment of Walsall from harm. This role targets anti‑social behaviour, neighbour nuisance, fly‑tipping, litter, highway obstructions and environmental harm. Opportunities also to work on unauthorised encampments and ensure compliance with regulatory standards for licensed trade and taxi trade. The team works closely with partners such as the police, social landlords and other internal departments to maximise resource allocation and use of legal powers.
You should have experience or the ability to work in a busy front‑line enforcement team. The post holds a high workload of reactive cases while contributing to proactive initiatives aimed at reducing demand and improving the environment and quality of life for the communities of Walsall. You will mediate and negotiate positive outcomes, initiate legal proceedings through warning letters, fixed penalty notices, statutory notices and court cases for serious offences.
The successful candidate should be methodical, detail‑oriented and manage time to keep the workload moving ining is provided and there is potential to work with partners on complex cases.
- Experience in a busy front‑line enforcement environment.
- Ability to handle a high volume of reactive cases and proactive initiatives.
- Skilled at mediation, negotiation and writing formal correspondence.
- Comfortable with initiating legal procedures (warning letters, fixed‑penalty notices, statutory notices, court proceedings).
- Methodical approach, detail focus, time‑management skills.
- Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is required. Applicants for posts requiring an enhanced DBS clearance must declare overseas periods and provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) if applicable.
